Data Sources
Everything on Capital Market Portfolio that moves — prices, charts, rates, headlines — comes from a third party. This page lists each one so you know exactly what you're looking at.

What "delayed and indicative" means
The prices here are good for learning and for a general sense of the market, but they are not the live, executable prices your broker shows. Exchange quotes from free sources are usually delayed, our server caches them for a few seconds to a minute, and figures can occasionally be missing or wrong. Never place a real trade based on a price from this site — check it with your broker or the exchange first.
Market open/closed status
The NSE status label is calculated from the exchange's regular weekday hours in Indian Standard Time (pre-open 9:00–9:15, normal market 9:15–15:30). It does not know about trading holidays or special sessions, so on a holiday it may say "Open" while prices don't move. NSE publishes its holiday list on its website.
Commodities are global benchmarks, not MCX
Gold, silver, crude oil, natural gas, and copper are shown as US-dollar futures from COMEX and NYMEX. Indian MCX prices differ because of the rupee exchange rate, import duties, taxes, and contract specifications. Our explainer on MCX gold versus global gold prices covers why.
Headlines
The home page's Market headlines and RBI updates tabs show only the title of each story, its source and a link to the original on the publisher's site. We don't copy article text, and these headlines are not our editorial content.
Calculators
Our calculators and Option Greeks calculator don't use market data except where noted (the Greeks calculator can load a current spot price). They run standard formulas on the numbers you enter, and each page explains its formula and assumptions.
